WHATSAPP has crashed globally, with millions of users unable to send or receive messages.

Users took to other forms of social media to complain they could not use the service.

Whatsapp confirmed it was working on a solution to the problem.

The outage appears to have hit Australia as well as much of Europe and some areas in Malaysia and Indonesia.

People reported they could not delete or edit their profile image or update their information, and in some cases privacy settings could not be updated.
